Thanks to the Pokemon Company, and Tencent (A Chinese Internet Giant), Pokemon Unite has been created for the Nintendo Switch. You will also be able to get this free-to-play game on mobile devices.
Pokemon Unite is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), and it is a 5 vs. 5 “League of Legends” style game. The gameplay is similar to that of the previous games in the genre. You pick you starting Pokemon, then you spend the game hunting other Pokemon and challenging (and hopefully defeating) opposing players.
One of the more unique aspects of this game is the Pokemon’s skill tree. You are able to customize it during the progress of the game. This allows you to make decisions based on the situation of the battle, allowing you to focus on the best skills that you would want to invest in.
On the subject of skill, each Pokemon will have a ‘Unite Move.’ This move is an ultimate attack, which is considered to be a very powerful ability. You can only use it occasionally, as it has a cool downtime that is considered to be lengthy.
The Difference from Pokemon Unite & Other MOBA Titles
While other MOBA titles will have towers that launch automatic attacks against the opposing team, Pokemon Unite takes a different approach. They instead have ‘Goals.’ These goals are markers of which you take Pokemon you have caught in order to gain points.
You are also able to prevent your opponents from reaching their goal by destroying it. This will give you an advantage as the other team will not be able to score as many points as quickly. Also, this will give your team a wider territory to work within.
There isn’t currently an exact release date for Pokemon Unite. However, you should still prepare yourself for what is sure to be an amazing game. Let us know what you think about this concept, and will it be as successful as the previous Pokemon based games?
