That old Nintendo magic is back. After four hours spent playing as many games as they could at the Switch 2 Experience held in London, the beautiful brains over at Digital Foundry have weighed in on a whole bunch of interesting aspects of the upcoming console. You can check out the full article and video over at Eurogamer as it goes into more detail, but the overall impression from the experts is that Nintendo has positioned itself very well, with what DF calls a “future-looking” console.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Grid and bear it.It has been a long old time since we’ve seen a Madden game on a Nintendo system (you have to go right back to the Wii U’s Madden NFL 13 to find the last one, in fact), but this week, that all could change. As reported by VGC, the rumour mill has started a-churning about this year’s entry in the American football series, suggesting that a release date will be revealed this week. Normally, this wouldn’t interest us Nintendo fans, but let’s not forget that EA has promised the series is heading to Switch 2. Might Madden NFL 26 finally be the entry we see back on Nintendo systems?Read the full article on nintendolife.com

A new kind of MuseumPass. If you’re in Kyoto and happen to be paying a trip to the Nintendo Museum, make sure you have your 3DS on you, as there are a couple of exclusive StreetPass Miis you can grab.Nintendo Dream Web’s Editor-in-Chief Rifa has paid a visit to the museum and shared a few photos of her time there. Worth fighting for. This review was originally published in March 2015. We’re updating and republishing it to mark the arrival of the game in the Nintendo Switch Online Game Boy Advance library. While Fire Emblem is a franchise with a long history in Japan, its track record in the West is far more condensed; in fact, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on Game Boy Advance was only the second series entry to arrive in North America and Europe. The first Western arrival is also available via Nintendo Switch Online (and previously on the Wii U eShop and on 3DS via the Ambassador Program), meaning that there’s a useful opportunity to become fully acquainted with the early days of the IP’s presence outside of Japan.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Fan-made trailer took over a year to create. It’s funny to think back on those days prior to the launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on GameCube. The now-infamous Space World 2000 footage gave us a glimpse of a Zelda experience that was, by and large, a natural graphical evolution of what came before in Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.So when Nintendo brought out the first trailer for The Wind Waker in 2001 and showcased a cel-shaded visual style that many would later derisively christen ‘Celda’, it was undoubtedly a bit of a shock to the system. Fast forward nearly 25 years later, however, and while it may still have its critics, The Wind Waker is widely regarded as one of the most unique and timeless entries in the series.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Yeah, that’s a lot. With the recent addition of the GBA title Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion, the paid service now boasts a total of 300 playable titles in the West.So to be clear, this count excludes SP titles, Japanese exclusives, and the upcoming line-up of GameCube titles for the Switch 2. And yes, just to address the elephant in the room, we would have already hit 300 titles if it weren’t for the removal of Super Soccer back in March.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Guilty as charged. For all the Switch 1 Pro Controller’s good points (and there are a lot of them), it can take its sweet time getting to a full charge. Fortunately, the Switch 2 Pro Controller seems to be speeding things along in this department.Nintendo has revealed the technical specifications for the upcoming console’s official controller, claiming that it will take approximately 3.5 hours for a full charge — when charged with the right cables, of course. For comparison’s sake, the original Pro Controller took almost twice as long for a full charge, with Nintendo estimating a whopping six hours to take it to 100%.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Engage those ears.Well, after a minor confirmation from Nintendo itself recently, the Fire Emblem Engage OST has been added to Nintendo Music’s growing library. It’s a bit of a ruddy big one too. We’ve got a total of 182 tracks here with a runtime of 7 hours and 24 minutes. Crikey! Needless to say, if you’re a fan of Fire Emblem Engage, then you’ve got a lot to dig into here.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

‘Desert Race Adventures’ pulls up this summer.Publisher Black Smoke Studios has announced that it’s bringing a funky new style of roguelike rally game to Switch in the summer.Desert Race Adventures has you race across Europe and Africa, through wetlands, deserts, jungles, and even along good old-fashioned tarmacadam, as you look to win races whilst juggling resources, managing team members, allocating food, and dealing with random encounters – because “s**t happens on the road,” apparently.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

“You must always be ready for battle”.Nintendo has today released a brand new update for its Switch Online Game Boy Advance library. Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones has been added for Expansion Pack subscribers.Released on the GBA in 2005, this was the second series entry to launch in the West (the first, The Blazing Blade, launched in North America in 2003 as plain old Fire Emblem and is already available on NSO) and focuses on the siblings Eirika and Ephraim and their quest to save the continent of Magvel from a demon. If it isn’t one thing, it’s another, right?Read the full article on nintendolife.com

“It made me nostalgic in all the right ways”.If you haven’t seen the new Nintendo Switch 2 commercial featuring Paul Rudd, where have you been? It’s a delightful throwback to one of the Ant Man and Anchorman actor’s first ever acting roles, a SNES commercial from 1991. It’s daft, it’s silly, and we didn’t think we could love Rudd any more.Following the commercial’s release, IGN published an interview with the actor who talked about reuniting with Nintendo 34 years after their first partnership.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Pokécology launches in Japan in June.In one of the most novel ideas we’ve seen from The Pokémon Company, the media giant has revealed Pokécology, an official book that focuses on the behaviours of the fictional creatures.Reported on my Automaton Media, Pokécology will be released in Japan on 18th June 2025 by publisher Shogakukan, with no official Western release confirmed yet. But the big draw here is that the book has been put together by two veterinary behaviorism and ecology PHD graduates from the University of Tokyo. So it’s essentially a real science book about fictional creatures.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Requesting Discord to cough up the deets. If you cast your mind back to October 2024, you might recall The Pokémon Company being subjected to a hacking which resulted in huge amounts of company data (including personal information regarding its employees) being leaked online. The so-called ‘Teraleak’ was one of the largest in recent memory, and now it seems Nintendo is going after the person responsible (thanks for the heads up, Polygon). In a recent subpoena document submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on 18th April 2025 (via Polygon), Nintendo requested that Discord reveal the identity of user ‘GameFreakOUT’ — the party accused of leaking “confidential materials not released to the public” on the ‘FreakLeak’ server.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Sirei-iously good.Back in 2018, a new studio called Too Kyo Games was formed, with the main creatives behind it being Kazutaka Kodaka (the creator of Danganronpa) and Kotaro Uchikoshi, the director of the Zero Escape games. Four projects were unveiled as part of the studio’s reveal, and while three of them saw release over the following years, it’s taken until now for the fourth one to finally see the light of day. That project is The Hundred Line – Last Defense Academy, a visual novel and tactical RPG hybrid that combines the themes that made Danganronpa and Zero Escape so beloved, and we’re happy to report that the studio has stuck the landing with this one.The narrative in Hundred Line follows an ensemble cast, beginning with the perspective of Takumi Sumino, a high schooler living in a huge underground society called the Tokyo Residential Complex. Here, life unfolds basically as it does in the real-world Tokyo, but the days are irregularly interrupted by sirens that signal impending attack from a force of strange monsters.Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Ready? Pull! Before the Switch 2 was officially announced earlier this year, magnetic Joy-Con controllers were rumoured for quite a while. In fact, developers at Nintendo wanted to utilise magnets on the original Switch, but the technology at the time meant that they wouldn’t be strong enough to gain the late Satoru Iwata’s approval.Thankfully, the technology is now right where we need it to be, and after going hands on with the Switch 2 recently, we can confidently confirm that attaching and removing the Joy-Con feels much more satisfying than the original console.Read the full article on nintendolife.com
